Magnolia

Magnolia is a sleepy city located just inside southwestern Montgomery County, some 20 miles from Conroe. Its origins date back to when the southern boundary of the county was extended to Spring Creek. This area was named Mink in 1885 with its official name changing to Magnolia in 1903.

By the mid-1920s, Magnolia had become a thriving community, with sawmills, saloons, general stores and more. These days, it is an incorporated municipality with a population of some 1,500 people within the city limits. However, extending beyond the city limits, residential property surrounds Magnolia extending the greater area an additional 12 miles in all directions, bringing the area population to more than 65,000.

Magnolia is a relatively small community that is growing at a very fast pace, largely due to its location in highly desirable Montgomery County, with easy access to Houston, Conroe and The Woodlands. It is very much a family-oriented city, making it a safe place to start a family or settle down. There are numerous opportunities for rest and relaxation here for everyone from golfers to equestrians.

Things to Do

The stated main aim of the city is to preserve a small-town atmosphere in its high-growth location and to provide high-quality services for its residents. The many attractions of life in Magnolia include its friendliness, its excellent schools, its churches, a very reasonable cost of living, and plenty of trees. In terms of amenities and shops, the city offers a great selection of stores and boutiques. These range from vintage and antiques sellers to premium outlets and a department store.

Magnolia TX Homes for Sale, Rentals and Houston Real Estate

Magnolia’s superior quality of life makes its real estate somewhat expensive compared to other locations in Texas, although there are bargains to be had. Most property is single-family residential, although there are some apartments and townhouses in the city’s stock. Magnolia’s principal attractions in terms of property, of course, are that it is close to many jobs and schools, yet it remains an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
